On thursday, Microsoft announced a partnership with Kind Financial, an e-commerce company in the cannabis industry. This declares Microsoft the biggest tech company to take a leap into the business.
St.Pierre, owner of Kind said “Ten years ago, 20 years ago, if you were saying, I have a software and I’m hoping to track marijuana sale, you and I would be in a RICO conspiracy. So that speaks to how much has changed, and how today what’s heralded in a newswire as a big partnership, years ago would have put you in federal prison,”. He adds that he believes that Microsoft’s association with legal marijuana will ultimately be helpful in the legalisation across the US.
There has been a number of successes in the market over recent years, most notably Leafly, the worlds biggest cannabis strain review site.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow, we can only expect to see more businesses created by entrepreneurs.
